IF YOU ARE NEW

If you wish to see what we are all about, you may like to attend our Thursday or Sunday services to start with. No prerequisite or booking is required. There is no charge, although there is an offertory during the services where donation is optional.

Our services are conducted by experienced volunteers who read from the teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda, and lead the prayers, affirmations and chanting. No meditation methods are taught at the Centre. If you wish to learn the techniques of SRF meditation and Kriya Yoga, you need to apply for the SRF Lessons to study in your own time. More about SRF Lessons...

Our bookroom is open after these services, where you can browse or buy books by Paramahansa Yogananda and his direct disciples, as well as CDs and DVDs of inspiring talks and chanting.

Most people sit on chairs while in the chapel, but if you prefer to sit cross legged on the floor, there is an area at the rear of the room. We have a small supply of cushions, or you may like to bring your own.

The chapel is always well ventilated with windows open to ensure an ample supply of oxygen for meditation, so do bring some warm clothing or a wrap in cooler weather for your comfort.

We normally remain quiet before the services in order to allow ourselves to go inward. After the services, feel free to chat with our devotees, especially our volunteers if you have questions about SRF or our Centre.

We look forward to welcoming you at Sydney Centre.  Whether you want to follow the teachings of Yogananda, or are just looking for a peaceful sanctuary, we would love you to come and meditate with us.

See our full range of activities in our schedule on the home page.

“By deep concentration in union with other seekers, a devotee transmutes his will into God’s Will. Remembering his identity with God, he recovers his divine heritage of God-perception.”
